The acrylic knit is surprisingly soft against my newborn's forehead and it stretches enough that it doesn't leave marks after a nap. Only one size, so if your baby has a bigger head it might be snug, but it fit my 7-pounder perfectly for coming home.
This hat was the first thing I put on my daughter in the hospital and it fit her tiny head perfectly. The newborn sizing is spot on and the acrylic yarn has just enough stretch that it didn't leave any marks.
